Black Bear Short Track

General Race Information

Never raced before? Want to open up the legs for the Black Bear 40k MTB Race on Saturday? This is your event. A short, .8 mile lap with 72 feet of climbing utilizing Middle Ridge Trail and Middle Ridge Road. Starting at the intersection of Middle Ridge Road and Hoffman Road, expect a short, gravel climb up Middle Ridge Road to Black Bear Trail. Take a sharp left hand turn onto Middle Ridge Trail.  Descend wicked fast single track and then traverse back to Middle Ridge Road.  Make a hard left and turn up the gas well road – a climb that will reward you if you can hold your line on the way up and down! Make a u-turn and descend, take a hard left back onto Middle Ridge Road to finish the lap. Beginner racers can expect to ride approximately 3-4 laps, Sport racers can expect 4-5 laps and Expert racers can expect 5-6 laps.  All racers will finish on the leader’s lap.

Register for $15 online HERE. On site registration is $20 and opens Friday May 26 @ 4:00 at Four Mile Road (drive all the way to the back of the forest until you hit gravel). Directions available HERE. Water will be available. Starting times are as follows:

  • Beginner/Juniors @ 4:35 – 15 mins
  • Sport/Clydesdale @ 5:00 – 20 mins
  • Open/Expert/Vet @ 5:30 – 25 mins

Awards will commence immediately following conclusion of the Expert race. Expert categories receive equal cash payouts for the top three men and women.  Sport and beginner categories receive prizes. Everyone leaves with a smile!
